Call Of Duty 5-11-13

Have you ever really tried to play a game such as Call of Duty or Black Ops? Like honestly have put an effort towards the game? I hadn't until today. I am a train wreck when it comes to those types of games and I would say that I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I have never wasted hours at a time shooting people that exist on a screen mixed with a volley of machine gun sound bytes. On the other hand, I have always wanted to actually learn how to play because.. well.. because! Do I have to have a reason that I want to play a game where blood explodes from people's heads and you are located on a fake town in 2025 that's  being exposed to nuclear death rays... or something like that... Yeah, on second thought, it seems like you would want to have a darn good reason to be playing this game, but no.. I have none. I would like to mention however, that I was not one of those girls who just press all the buttons at the same time or in some frantic, wild manner and they end up beating the "experienced" guy next to them. Oh no. I felt the need to actually learn how to play well and it didn't that badly! When I finally played against real people who were online I managed to make some kills which shocked Matthew (my friend who was teaching me and is also part of m robotics team and long time friend). Some people say that it is a mind rotting game, and in a sense, yeah sitting in front of a TV shooting other fake people is rather violent, but it is not a mindless game! The people against these games that that there is no skill involved. Are you kidding me? It take a lot of concentration! You have to aim, shoot, hide, and watch the map to make sure no one is sneaking up on you while you are reloading. This means coordinated hands people that you don't have to look at while playing. It's definitely a game of practice. While we were playing, Beth (Matthew's mom) looked at us and said, "Mei-Jing, I don't know why you would be interested in all of that... It's so violent." Why is there a stereotype against the majority of girls playing these games? Is it the violence or is it something else? How did it become "a guy thing"? Is it an ingrained thing in history that girls are dainty and don't do that kind of thing? I thought that we were moving forward with women in all these different occupations. Why is this an exception?

Exhausted 5-8-13

Wow! Another drop in my views and rightfully so because of the fact that I haven't written on here in over a week! Oh my how times flies. Full of drama and all things that should not be a worry in today's society. I sometimes think that even though we as society pride ourselves in coming a long way socially, politically, and intellectually, we sometimes find ourselves still deeply rooted in unsavory behavior. We accuse others of a completely ridiculous accusations when we at some point in our lives have probably done the same thing too at some point in our lives. Tempers flare and suddenly you have people coming up with conspiracy theories and your life has spun way out of control and even the simplest things seem difficult. Story of my life right now. Why can't Mei-Jing ever have a simple life? One where she does normal things? Things that normal people who live in a city do? Things that aren't abnormal... Or maybe not? Yeah everyone says normal is boring but right now cramming a years worth of multiple courses into less than a semester is quite frankly exhausting! So ready for the the easy life... of visiting Mattie and Aaron and Maeve and hopefully Dexter. Going into NOAA's Ocean For Life program in Santa Barbra, California. You want to know how much enthusiasm I am putting towards my ever so boring life right now? This many.... take that people who think I'm not normal and that I like learning too much! BOOM :P
