Hey guys! As you may have noticed my blogs are getting shorter because I'm super busy. Today was pretty darn cool! It included the following things:
In history, my class got to go outside and start building single track sustainable trails. It was hard work, because there wasn't a lot to balance on while wielding an ax or macloud. It was really cool, and I felt really proud of myself. I managed to break a few hefty rocks with my macloud. We were all wearing super classy glasses, toe covers (so we couldn't chop anything off) and hardhats. When we removed everything we were all dripping in sweat. It wasn't the most pleasant thing to see or smell for that matter. I still really liked it, and it's supposed to be a Stewardship in Action activity, so I'm definitely signing up for it.
Then in english I got super excited! We are doing this big project (which means no more HW after tomorrow's quiz!). It's all about how fear connects to wilderness. We had a choice to choose between a powerpoint arguing whether Bigfoot was real or not, or we could create a field guide for our choice of three or more mystical beasts! We of course I picked the field guide. We spent almost the entire class in Nancy's artroom starting our field guides I'll try and post some pictures of the stages that the book is in. So far I have a really natural homemade paper cover, and tea "aged" paper. Super pumped about the whole project. We are working on it till the day before we leave for exploration week. This way, I can have lots of time to practice my sprites, centaurs, and other creatures! Wooohoooo!
I have also really begun to enjoy cordage! For those of you who don't know its where you twist these grasses together and get cool, earthy looking bracelets. The earth art students are teaching the whole school. So far I have one bracelet, but I'm certain I'll have many by the time the weekend comes.
Rhineland trip is coming up. I have to buy a couple sweat wicking shirts FYI parents! Just a warning. They gradfellows are banning all cotton material! I also signed up for a day of wild rice harvesting. Super excited for that!
Today was the kite festival. More on that later!
Overall a really good day!
Must get my reading and studying done! Gnight!
I love the sound of your English project! That's the sort of thing I enjoyed doing the most when I was teaching at Little Red. The students had fun doing it, and I had fun reading them when they were done. Can't wait to see what you come up with. BTW, have you written your first e-portfolio essay yet?
