9-30-2012 personal evolution

While here at Conserve I think that I have changed a lot as a person. I have done a lot more thinking about the future, but I have also started living in the present more too. It's a bit of a contradiction I know, but it's been an excellent experience.  Before I left home I thought I knew what I wanted to do, but since being here I think that I have definitely widened my horizons. I thought that I had decided what colleges I like and what major I wanted, but being here and learning new things such as poi and guitar has made me think more. I have always been inclined towards the academic and thinking planning side, but here I'm open to going with the flow and seeing where the wind takes me. I want to give everything a chance. I want to enjoy what I have now, even though I am going to miss everything when I leave. The friends I have made here are some of the most valuable, kind, smart, thoughtful, accepting, and understanding people I could ever ask for. There's always someone to listen to you or listen to. Here there are intelligent conversations that don't only consist of relationships and drama. You can always hear or see someone passing on their knowledge to someone new, whether it be singing, playing an instrument, telling a story or building something. People talking about the future or the their spiritual beliefs floats through the air, and the listeners are always willing to accept the views without a flinch or double take. I have learned a lot about people here. Just watching everyone is fascinating to me. The people we chose to hang out with and the people who we go if we need someone to talk to.

If you hadn't noticed, I have created a group of people around me who I trust with everything. I've mentioned them a lot in previous posts. We listen and can talk about everything and not worry about what the other people will think. We are accepting to our differences but share an incredible amount of common ground too. I think that conversation is the best way to form strong bonds between people and man do we talk. Late into the evening... looking at the stars.. on and on and on. Perhaps you don't know what I'm talking about, but for me coming here has been one of my best decisions I have ever made. I have grown as a person so much you can't even imagine.

I hope to have these bonds last for an entire lifetime. I'm not sure I could live without these people in my life now that I have seen a different part of life with them. Despite the distance between us I will make it work!

Bring it on world! I'll go where the wind takes me now.

As I said in my field guide to demons (an English assignment): "Thanks to Conserve school who opened my eyes and allowed me to see."

  1. You're lucky, MJ, not everyone has had the chance to form close bonds with others. It's wonderful! I'm really enjoying your blog.
    Love ya'
