Thanks to all of my wonderful friends here at Conserve. I received even more surprises than I thought I would. Last night I was hanging out in Maeve's room , and the entire Loon wing came up and sang me Happy Birthday with Olivia on guitar! After that Mattie and I had to go back to our wing's, so she came and kept me company last night, because walking into my room without Maia there is all too depressing. So silent and serious. It's not a good feeling. COme home Maia! I got my present form Mattie that night. It's a beautiful poem all about life here. I considered posting it, but then it wouldn't be as special, and you all would probably read it and go.. "what on earth did I just read?" It involves references to too many "you had to be there" experiences. Plus, it'd make it less personal. Thanks Mattie, I love you! <3 :D Also, thanks again to all the facebook birthday wishes and the cards and money. :D
Today in ceramics I got really excited about starting my place setting. I forgot to mention that everyone in the class is creating two whole place settings (plus a center piece) that are completely functional and then we are going to eat dinner with Robert (the teacher) after Thanksgiving. Back to what I was saying, I got into the room and went to check my pleated bread bowl and discovered cracks on it! It's done.. over.. not going to work. Kaia says that I have a VERY slim chance that it won't break, but I'm not holding out, so I started yet another one. We are also beginning to work with our dirt that we brought form home. The class is sieving the dirt to make our own personal glazes. I'm looking forward to seeing how Aaron and my glazes look like since we have such different clay form everyone else.
